Composure is something you can train for. If we Composure is something you can train for.

If we can build enough self-awareness to be able to recognize when we're triggered, or the situations that get under our skin, then we can also consider ahead of time how we want to show up.

And then when the moment hits, we have our plan.

This is what self-awareness paired with emotional intelligence looks like IRL.

To go deeper, you can head to my Substack at Leadership Lately .com and read this piece - Leadership Composure: How to Stay Calm Under Pressure.

Do you agree? This is a core belief that I believ Do you agree?

This is a core belief that I believe underpins how we successfully hold healthy #boundaries.

Every ask we say yes to, every boundary we let slide, sends people a signal.

If we hold a polite line early, we can protect your ability to show up well for the long haul.

I like to look for themes in what my clients are s I like to look for themes in what my clients are sharing ... and one of the things over the years I've noticed is how universal "storytelling" really is.

We can't help but do it. When we don't fully understand someones behavior, our minds create a narrative to be able to make sense of it.

But in leadership, this can become dangerous ... especially if we allow our story to drive our actions.

Some thoughts from my article on Leadership Lately (www.leadershiplately.com) > "The Stories Leaders Tell Themselves".

Intentionality is at the core of self-leadership. Intentionality is at the core of self-leadership.

Are we aligning our actions and behaviors with the person we want to be? Are we showing up as our best selves?

This overview is based on a session I'm currently taking my Leadership Circle groups through, reflecting on how we can lead ourselves with more intentionality through some simple, daily consideration.

Save this as a reminder.

Blanchard's Situational Leadership is a model I fi Blanchard's Situational Leadership is a model I find myself coming back to again and again.

I was first introduced to this in the first leadership seminar I attended thanks to an awesome organization (Ryan Recruitment) that I had the privilege of working for early in my career.

It made sense then. And it still holds now.

People need different things from their leaders. Your Expert needs a whole lot less direction from you than your Newbie.

It might go without saying, but its a really useful model to revisit from time to time and consider if you're striking the right balance with your people.
